Nice Relaxing Movie Watching Day

What better way to celebrate Easter than with a couple of Will Ferrell movies.  We started off the afternoon with Anchorman and if you don't like that movie you should go back to your home on whore island!  Mix in a little hockey and some NCAA Basketball (didn't see the Kevin Ware broken leg live but wish him a speedy recovery) and now we are watching Step Brothers.  I laugh through this whole movie even in anticipation of the funniest parts - "I have a belly full of white dog crap and now you lay this shit on me?".
The pure genius ridiculousness of the dialogues in these movies should win awards.

Oldie Maybe Not So Goodie

Driving tonight I was listening to XM radio and a song from my early teen years came on: "If Wishes Came True" by Sweet Sensation.  If you asked me if I knew the song I probably would have said no but as soon as I heard the music it all came rushing back.  Crazy the things you remember without knowing you remember them - I still knew most of the words.  The radio said the song was from 1990 and 13 year old Jessica's taste in music leaves something to be desired.  I wish I could say as a kid I listened to great music but this proves I did not (at least not all the time).
I would like to take a minute to apologize to my parents for probably making them listen to this kind of music.  Sorry for any bleeding ears.
And yes, I did sing along loudly to the words I remembered - to the dismay of the husband!

Finally a night to relax with no plans and I am bored!

Doggie Spa

When the boys get groomed we tell them they are going to the doggie spa.  CT loves it - he loves people and attention so he will leave with a stranger if they act like they love him.  Jack acts like the best behaved dog in the world and waits right by your side until they have to drag him in back.  Both boys were getting pretty shaggy so we had them cut short for the spring.

I Am Ready For Spring

I want temperatures over 65 and sun.  We moved to NC to get away from long winters!  Let's also move along this allergy season - I am tired of the achy sinuses.

Red Hair

I finally had my hair dresser dye part of my hair a bright red.  I am a fan of unnatural hair colors but have never had it done on my own head until today.  I have been dyeing my hair for many years because if I didn't I would be mostly gray so it wasn't too far out of my comfort zone to dye my hair but to get the red I wanted she had to bleach it and that was a first.  Here it is. Sorry for the bad picture - it was hard to smile after the Hurricanes lost again (6 straight)!

It is tricky to get a picture because it is underneath of the back of my hair but it is really red.  This is something I would have had on my Bucket List - Dye my hair an unnatural color - but I thought it was cheesy to cross it off the very next day.

Bucket List

I am going to start a bucket list.  Lately I have been thinking about random stuff I would like to do and I need someplace to keep track of them.  I don't have too many ideas off the top of my head but I will start a list and add more when I think of them.
Recent talk of traveling and researching places to go and interesting things to do should provide some items to start my list.
* Attend a Summer Olympics (We went to the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics and had the best time) - Rio 2016???
* See a Montreal Canadiens hockey game at the Bell Centre
* Eat a cannoli in Italy
* Finish a 5K in under 30 minutes
* Front row tickets for a concert I really want to see
* Ghost tour in Savannah,Georgia
* Trip to see castles in Ireland and Scotland

The husband just stated "Splash might be the dumbest show" yet we are still watching it.  What is worse is that I am too lazy to change it or find anything else to do.  Thats right folks - it is Saturday night and we are party animals.

Hurricanes Make Me Sad

Every time I think the Hurricanes have hit rock bottom they find a new low.  Tonight was the 5th loss in a row.  They gave up an own goal that Brodeur got credit for (and I hate Brodeur so it was incredibly painful to watch).  Plus, there was another injured D-Man and goalie.
The crowd had 3 (only 3 because the Devils have very few fans) really loud annoying NJ Devil fans that heckled the whole game and I might sound bitter (I am) but I hope they got their asses kicked in the parking lot!
Not to mention the Canes claimed Zach Boychuk off waivers. He should go to the Checkers (AHL) and stay there.  What makes the Hurricanes front office think this kid is any good?  He has been a healthy scratch for 3 different teams in this short season, including the Canes. I was hoping they gave up on him this season but with all the injuries in the organization maybe he is just a band-aid and doesn't get resigned (fingers crossed).

Today was a little windy but a beautiful day and perfect for some music and a long walk.

Random Stuff

One of my current favorite songs is Miranda Lambert's "Mama's Broken Heart".  It is a breakup song with some great lyrics like "Run and hide your crazy and start actin' like a lady".  I highly recommend this tune.  Some other songs I could listen to on repeat lately are: "Sure Be Cool If You Did" by Blake Shelton, "Wagon Wheel" by Darius Rucker (this one hits home talking about leaving the cold of New England for Raleigh, NC) and any song by Lee Brice.

I laugh every time I see that "Happier than Dikembe Mutombo blocking a shot" Geico commercial - "not today".

When did NASCAR get so boring?  The last couple years we haven't been watching many races but this year I have watched most and no excitement at all.  No bumping, no passing and not even a race to the finish line.  The best part of this season has been the twitter comments between Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin and Dale Jr being 2nd in points right now.

Rehab Addict is a great show.  Host Nicole Curtis is a tiny petite woman who rehabs old houses and brings them back to their former glory.  She makes me want to do projects around our house.  In fact I am now inspired to repaint our front porch that really needs it and I think I can handle it.

Now I am going to go watch Bates and Anthony Battaglia on The Amazing Race.

Psych

Psych is one of my favorite TV shows.  Saturday night Ion Television has reruns so it's time to put on my jammies and cuddle up with the husband and puppies and watch some funny and entertaining TV.

Friends And Family

I have the best family and friends. I hope they know I appreciate and love them!

Boooo Allergies

I really hope these stinking allergies get better soon.  So much pressure in my head I couldn't even yell at the Hurricanes tonight and I think that might be why they lost.

Run #2

Well, this was a much rougher run than Monday!  Today was super windy and I had 2 untied shoes.  It was also colder and my allergies are very yucky.  I took some Zyrtec and now it is comfy clothes and TV time.

And we have a new Pope!

Nice Quiet Day

Watched some TV, went grocery shopping and now watching the Hurricanes vs Capitals.  Tomorrow looking forward to day #2 running.

First Run

The husband and I said we were going to start running when the time changed so we could run at night and it would still be light.  Today was day #1.  I downloaded an app for my phone - Ease into 5K.
I like the app because it tells us when to run and walk and keeps track of the miles with GPS.

My only real goal is to get healthy and enjoy running more but it would be nice if I could get my 5K time under 30 minutes (partly because the husband promised my Game Worn Sylvain Turgeon Whalers Jersey if I can do that).

So Much Fun Sunday!

Today my friend, her adorable baby (Stella) and I went to the Hurricanes STH party and had a great time.  I joked that I was going to throw Stella at Jordan Staal to get a picture of him holding her.  I didn't have to throw her - all of the players loved her! We got 4 of them to hold her and they could not have been cuter or sweeter.

It was a lot of standing in lines but I had a great day and got my Olympic hockey program signed by Tim Gleason and Alexander Semin.  We also got Stella's tiny jersey signed by Gleason, Brent, Westgarth, J. Staal, Semin, McBain, Tlusty and Peters.

Super Saturday

What a great day.  A nice 4 miles on our favorite trail in beautiful weather.  Went to a new shopping center - we are now only about 3 or 4 miles from a Target and a whole lot of other stores.  Topped off with a Hurricanes win.  Always fun to beat the NJ Devils and Chris Terry (a call up from the AHL) with a goal in his first NHL game!

Fun Weekend Ahead

The weather looks like it will be sunny and in the 60's both days.  Can't wait to start tomorrow with a nice walk at the trail (and start running on Monday) and end the day at the Hurricanes game.  Sunday is the Hurricanes Season Ticket Holder party.  We're going to see the team practice and then wait in a crazy line for a few autographs. It's not the best way to do things but hopefully we will see Jordan Staal and Alexander Semin.

Yikes!

On our way home from the Hurricanes vs Canadiens game (don't ask) we came inches from some guy hitting us.  He just turned on his blinker and started moving into our lane even though he was right next to us!  My first reaction was "stupid crazy bleep bleep bleep".  Is it bad that my second thought was "that would have sucked - we just had the car detailed" or that my third thought was "glad we didn't have a bad accident because I am wearing my autographed Eric Staal Team Canada Olympic jersey that we got in Vancouver"?

Pete Dawg Woof Woof

I like the idea of saying "woof woof" after Justin Peters (Pete Dawg) has a good save!

What a game.  A lot of Sabres fans in PNC Arena tonight but they went home unhappy.  Hurricanes played well despite the fact they only had 4 shots on goal (2 went in) in the third period.  

Eleven Years Ago Today

Crazy to think about it but the husband and I met 11 years ago today - that seems like a long time.  They have been the greatest years!  Sure we argue and don't agree on everything but I wouldn't change a thing.  We spend every possible minute together and he still makes me smile and laugh everyday.  I couldn't be happier and hope we have a million more years together!

Happy 9th Birthday

Today was our niece Julia's birthday.  Nine years ago today we were in Vegas.  We were with my parents (Julia's grandparents) at the airport and we got word that a healthy and happy Julia was born.  She was and is a cute, sweet, funny and smart girl.
It is always harder to live far away from family on days like today since we would have loved to celebrate with our favorite 9 year old (insert "where does the time go" joke here).  We did get to talk to her and hear all about her party, pizza, cake and presents.  Happy to hear she had a great day and wish her many, many more.

Dinner And Hockey

What a great night.  Went to dinner with fantastic friends that we don't see enough and then we headed to the Hurricanes vs Panthers game.  The Hurricanes won 6-2!  Justin Faulk had a fight with Stephen Weiss that I think he won and Riley Nash had his 1st NHL goal.
Makes for a pretty perfect Saturday night for me!
